In the Beginning…

In 1984 Bill and Kaye Walton (Grandma and Grandpa) planted their first Christmas Trees on their land at 120 Natures Way, Elgin Texas.  Three years later in 1987 they sold their first crop of Christmas Trees (around 50 trees that year).  Grandma Kaye fondly remembers the first year she was able to give “first fruits” back to the Lord.  It was a joy the pick the “Best” tree in the field to put up in Immanuel Lutheran Church in Pflugerville.  For 18 years while their daughters went out into the world to find careers, husbands and grow families they continued to work and pray as the farm and their family grew and grew.  They kept the Lord in front of their family and business as they continued to be blessed in both areas.  In 2002 when their oldest daughter Twyla and her family began proceedings to buy the farm/business, the farm had around 35,000 trees growing and was selling over 4000 trees a season.  It was a joy to see families return year after year to continue the family tradition they shared with the Waltons

In the Middle…

Marc, Twyla, Landry, Lacey and Zeth fully took over the farm and moved there in 2005.  Since then, new buildings have been built almost every year.  Marc brought, with the help of Grandpa Bill, a new style of taking care of the trees and they have made a great team over the years.  In the last 10 years, the farm has experienced very severe drought (always having trees to choose-n-cut) and flooding.  Marc and Twyla added 25 acres to allow for leaving a field fallow every year following the common sense teaching of the Bible.  In 2015, the farm experienced having the most quantity and best quality of trees ever in it’s history.  The customers that came as young children originally, are starting to bring their young families out. What a testament to what God can do with a dream, hard work and faith in His will.

In the Future…

Everything is growing well on the farm.  The Nash family added a member in 2014, Junior – 13 years old at the time.  Grandma and Grandpa Walton, who celebrated 50 years of marriage in 2015, now have 11 grandchildren and are slowing down a little.  They can still often be seen working or supervising around the farm.  All the Nash children, as well as Walton cousins who pop in and out, work hard on the farm.  Our family has been very blessed through good times and bad to see the wonderful people who come out every year to share the joy of Christ’s birth with us.  We have many plans as we start our fourth decade of growing trees and having fun on the farm.  Of course we always have ideas about improving the trees and having a better quality and quantity of trees including having some taller trees than we have had in the past.  There are plans to add more animals and fun facilities for them.  Elgin CHRISTmas Tree Farm belongs to God and our family is blessed to have stewardship over it.  Our goal is to share these blessings – God and the farm – with as many people as possible.
