The Story of the Farm

The Elgin Christmas Tree Farm was founded in 1984 as Natures Way Tree Farm by Bill and Kay Walton. In 2002, their eldest daughter, Twyla Nash and husband Marc Nash took over the farm.

Marc, Twyla, and their children, Landry, Lacey and Zeth fully took over the farm and moved there in 2005. Marc brought, with the help of Grandpa Bill, a new style of taking care of the trees and they have made a great team over the years.  In 2015, the farm experienced having the most quantity and best quality of trees ever in it’s history.  The customers that came as young children originally, started to bring their own young families out. What a testament to what God can do with a dream, hard work and faith in His will.

After diligently farming Christmas trees and running a successful business for over 20 years, the Nash family decided to part ways with the farm following the devastating loss of Twyla Nash in October 2022. She fought a brave six year battle with cancer.

Meet the New Owners

In April 2023, Damian and Leia Prause, the owners of the Old Time Christmas Tree Farm in Spring, TX, purchased the Elgin Christmas Tree Farm. The family plans to run both farms with the help of their children, Michael and Erin, and Erin’s husband Holden.

The Prauses have over 25 years of experience in the choose-and-cut Christmas tree business. Damian and Leia became good friends with Marc and Twyla through the Texas Christmas Tree Growers Association, and they plan to keep the same spirit of the Elgin Christmas Tree Farm alive while implementing a few practices of their own. The Prause family is grateful for the opportunity to keep the tradition going for all of the loyal guests and friends of the Elgin Christmas Tree Farm.
